Quick Q&A with Derick Adil
Could you please give us a quick introduction of yourself?
I lead AI and Privacy Governance at Globe Telecom, helping teams build responsibly with data and AI. With nearly 20 years in tech and telecom, I’ve worked across strategy, delivery, and governance. I believe AI isn’t just about what we can build but what we should build. It’s about aligning innovation with real human and business value.
Why did you choose to participate in The MarTech Summit Amsterdam?
Because it’s about sharing, we move forward by showing up, listening, and learning together. This summit isn’t just about trends – it’s about building a future where AI and data are used responsibly.
AI can accelerate data-driven decision-making, but over-reliance comes with risks. What governance frameworks or principles do you recommend to mitigate these challenges?
One common myth is that “AI is always right.” It’s not. The real risk isn’t over-reliance, it’s blind trust. That’s why human oversight isn’t optional. It’s a must. We need governance that asks: Who checks the AI? And how do we verify its output? Always keep a human in or on top of the loop.
What advice would you give to other companies aiming to build a culture that embraces both AI innovation and responsible data practices?
One takeaway from a recent summit I attended: build a “why culture.” It’s not just about the tech, it’s about asking better questions. What problem are we solving? Why does it matter? When we lead with purpose, we innovate without losing the human side of things. That’s how AI becomes meaningful, not just powerful.
What trends or shifts in the market are you most looking forward to this year, and how do you plan to stay ahead of the curve?
AI is moving fast, what’s true today might not be tomorrow. So we focus on two things: building the right foundations, like our AI Kitchen upskilling our people, and continue to engage in conversations. Tech and policies are still moving, so it’s key to always be on the lookout.
