10 AI-Driven Strategies to Increase Your ROI in Digital Marketing

Let’s be honest, AI is here to stay, and it’s continuously evolving on a daily basis; who knows how we’ll develop in the next year.  In this guide, I’ll talk you through 10 strategies to take your digital marketing to the next level, increasing your ROI.

About Camila Pereira

I’m Camila Pereira, founder of the CP Digitally and a marketing expert in the international space.  My job is to strategically help businesses convert traffic into leads and sales. Over the past fifteen years, I’ve worked with both B2B and B2C businesses, ranging from startups and scaleups to corporate companies spending £1m per month on ads.

In the last two years, I have shifted my focus to incorporate new technologies and embrace AI. Whether in a small or large corporation, including AI to aid your ROI efforts will not only help you but take you forward. Many of us are a bit lost on where to start. That’s why I won’t teach you how to use AI in this blog (because, honestly, that’s the easy part). Instead, I’ll help you with a few ideas on how you can utilise it to boost your marketing revenue.

(And if you’d like to dive deeper, feel free to book a consultancy session with me.)

1. Ad creative testing at a greater speed

In late March 2025, OpenAI launched globally to ChatGPT Plus users, in the model 4.o ability to create hyperrealistic imagery for many scenarios, as well as open access to use Sora (advanced and extremely realistic AI videos).

What does this mean for me?  As a marketeer, you can quickly test and learn new creative imagery, edit assets, infographics, gamification, character consistency, video creation and much more.  Optimising Paid Social, Programmatic, Affiliate and Google Pmax campaigns has never been so easy with less dependency on graphic design teams.

2. Audience segmentation

Stuck on your ideal customer or buyer persona could be.  AI can help you brainstorm them, identifying behaviours, demographics, and interests, allowing you to target the most relevant users with personalised ads and messages leading to higher testing and conversation rates ultimately.  It is ultimately a gateway for you to do deep research.

3. Content Creation at speed

Creating content in 2025 has never been so easy, such as blog posts, social media captions, and ad copy, allowing for faster content production, as well as testing and more consistent engagement with your audience.  Just be careful not to sound too AI’ish nowadays. It’s noticeably detected, and you don’t want to blend in the crowd.

How to improve this then?  Your best bet is to feed AI with all the relevant information, educate it with examples, give it a role, what tone/style, what task you are giving it, and in what format you want to receive it back, then provide feedback. In addition, it also gives your personal flavour or essence to what you are writing.  Ultimately, this will be your mark on the internet.

4. Chatbots for Lead Generation and Sales

Looking to streamline lead to sales processes? This can definitely help qualify leads and get their interest peaking for a sale.  When people are in doubt about a website, there is an option at multiple stages of the funnel to convert them before a lead and post-sale.  There are even options to suggest products, leading to increased lead conversions and an increase in revenue.

5. AI-Powered A/B Testing

Take your multivariate testing to another level by organising your:

–        Testing schedule

–        Testing matrix

–        Ideas for new tests – demographics, landing page, copy for example

However, note AI is not the best for calculating mathematical equations; rather it is more proficient in logic and patterns, as this is how it’s been trained with past data.

6. Enhanced Customer Journey Mapping

AI can also be used to track and understand customer behaviour across multiple touchpoints using CRM (please Don’t upload any PII data), as well as mapping out the entire customer journey or even asking if you have any gaps that could be potentially filled (again remember to exclude any PII data for privacy).  Furthermore, creating more targeted campaigns that increase conversions and overall ROI.

7. Predictive analytics

Utilise AI to analyse historical data and predict future buying behaviour.  (I would, of course, exclude any PII). By understanding potential customer actions, we can tailor our strategies to better target and personalised offers.

With an end goal to increase conversion rates by reaching the right audience with the right message at the right time.

8. AI-Driven Personalisation Engines

Use AI to personalise the customer experience on websites, apps, and landing pages by showing them tailored content, products, and recommendations.

Furthermore, this creates more engaging and personalised experiences, improving customer satisfaction, retention, and conversion rates.

9. Email marketing optimisations

An aid to optimise your email campaigns.  Utilise past data to your existing best performing subject lines and copy, once you have run this analysis.  Use AI to provide new ideas similar to winning ones.

Ultimately boosting email performance, open rates, and increasing click-through rates and conversions, with the end result of improving ROI.

10. Marketing AI in advertising platforms

For instance if a new customer is worth $10,000, and you have a lead to sale rate of 5% – each lead you generate is worth $500. This can then be used to calculate the ROI for SEO in lead generation businesses.

The majority of Ad platforms – Google ads (including the GDN), Meta ads, CRM and many more now have their custom AI built in, so you don’t have to jump off the platform – some offer ad creation, ad relevancy scoring and creative relevancy scoring to name a few.  Even though these features make it easier for people to create and launch ad campaigns, without understanding the core fundamentals and optimisation techniques it will be complex to succeed. These features in Ad platforms are simply an aiding stone to bump a few scores but are not an end all.
Furthermore and in conclusion, to aid the use of AI in marketing, a recent study by Harvard University and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) an eye-opening discovery was made regarding the impact of AI on workplace productivity.

The results were shocking:

  • Productivity Increase: Consultants using AI tools showed a 40% increase in productivity compared to their counterparts.

  • Performance Enhancement: Less experienced consultants armed with AI not only matched but significantly outperformed top performers who did not use AI.

  • Efficiency Gains: AI tools reduced the time needed to complete tasks and improved the accuracy of the outcomes.

That definitely calls for a need to embrace technology and AI in the workforce.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve identified multiple areas of opportunity, fantastic! The good news is that you now know what could need experimenting. Digital marketing is powerful, but even more powerful utilising the power of AI. Build a solid foundation first (of course, you can always research and plan as well with AI) with your marketing and ad campaigns, then when you want to amplify, utilise these tactics.
