Quick Q&A with Michelle Goderie
Could you please give us a quick introduction of yourself?
I am 43 years old, married, and a proud mother of two young daughters. I live in a small village near Amsterdam and enjoy sports, spending time in nature, and enjoying quality time with family and friends. Professionally, I am the Head of Business Development for Amazon EU Creators. In this role, I oversee the EU Creator Program, which spans a diverse portfolio of partnerships with media and entertainment companies, banks, airlines, and comparison shopping platforms—each with distinct monetization models and business challenges. Previously, I led Marketing and Prime in several emerging markets, including the Netherlands, Sweden, and Poland. As Amazon operates as a matrix organization, I work closely with EU central marketing teams and global technology teams to drive sustainable business growth.
Why did you choose to participate in this summit?
I value opportunities to connect with professionals from different industries who often face similar challenges. This summit offers a chance to share experiences, exchange perspectives, and learn from others navigating comparable transformations.
You have a background that spans finance, marketing, strategy, and commerce. How has this multidisciplinary experience shaped your approach to customer growth across diverse EMEA markets?
Throughout my career, I have held roles across finance, commerce, strategy, and marketing in a variety of organisations. This multidisciplinary background has given me a broad skill set and a strong belief in the value of transferable skills, enabling me to think beyond traditional functional boundaries. Having worked across multiple countries, each with distinct customer behaviours, regulatory environments, and competitive dynamics, I have developed a deep appreciation for when and why localisation is critical to driving meaningful impact.
You lead business development for creators. How do you see the role of creators and content partners evolving in the context of AI-powered, cross-channel customer journeys?
Creators and content partners are evolving from being primarily sources of traffic to becoming strategic inputs across the entire AI-powered customer journey. Their role now extends well beyond awareness to shaping discovery, consideration, and decision-making across channels such as search, social, messaging, and on-site experiences. As AI personalizes journeys in real time, creators provide trusted, high-quality signals—editorial judgment, expertise, and authentic voice—that AI systems rely on to remain relevant and credible. Media companies, banks, telecoms, comparison platforms, and influencers are increasingly acting as data-rich partners, helping AI better understand user intent and context. Content is becoming more modular and reusable, flowing seamlessly across touchpoints rather than living on a single platform. Importantly, creators also help humanize AI-driven interactions, ensuring recommendations feel helpful rather than automated. Ultimately, the most valuable partners will be those who can combine trust, scale, and structured content that AI can activate dynamically. In this model, creators are not just storytellers, but co-architects of intelligent, cross-channel customer experiences.
The MarTech space evolves quickly. How do you personally stay on top of emerging trends, technologies, or new tools worth exploring?
Within Amazon, there is a strong culture of knowledge sharing, with frequent exposure to both internal and external developments through articles, forums, and virtual sessions. We also have an internal AI-University that supports continuous learning. Beyond that, I regularly listen to industry podcasts and actively participate in several business communities and collectives focused on Tech and Marketing.
Looking ahead to 2026, is there a professional or personal goal you are especially excited to pursue?
Professionally, I am focused on continuing to navigate rapid change together with my team while increasingly integrating AI tools and support into my own and the team’s way of working. On a personal level, I am excited about balancing that professional ambition with improving my wing foiling skills and, most importantly, ensuring sufficient quality time with family and friends.
Michelle’s perspective highlights the increasing strategic role of creators in today’s AI-powered marketing landscape. From her experience leading diverse EMEA markets to shaping modular, cross-platform customer experiences, she brings clarity to the complexity of modern MarTech. Her belief in the power of collaboration, content, and continuous learning reminds us that human insight remains critical—even in a highly automated world. We look forward to her insights at the Global Virtual MarTech Summit 2026, where she will explore how trust, data, and AI come together to power growth across regions.
