On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, industry leaders and professionals gathered at the Hotel Mulia Jakarta for The MarTech Summit focused on cutting-edge marketing technology trends and strategies. The event brought together experts to discuss the latest innovations and challenges in the MarTech sector, emphasizing the importance of staying ahead in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The summit featured a series of compelling presentations and discussions. A key highlight was the emphasis on humanising brands and leveraging technology to create memorable customer experiences.

Nita Octaviani Aji, Head of Customer Experience, DBS, highlighted the importance of showing that brands have personality and care about more than just transactions. This approach, she explained, fosters loyalty and encourages customers to return and recommend the brand. 

Yan Ananto Hutomo Putro, Head of Affluent Solution Department, Bank BTNt, underscored the significance of upskilling in driving innovation and marketing automation. “As technology evolves, it’s imperative that our people do too. Upskilling not only enhances individual capabilities but also fuels organisational growth.” 

During a panel discussion on social media marketing, Martha Grashiana, Head of Brand & Marketing Strategy, Home Credit Indonesia, emphasised the necessity of understanding target audiences and maintaining two-way interactions to build long-term relationships and brand loyalty. The use of customer engagement solutions was highlighted as a means to streamline relationship management and drive business growth. 

In a fireside chat on e-commerce excellence, Inderpreet Singh, Director, E-commerce, Asia Pacific, Bata Group, shared insights on maintaining relevance post-pandemic and the importance of creating engaging online experiences that mirror physical flagship stores. This approach ensures that customers have a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience. 

Angelia Susanto, HN Marketing & Strategy Director, Danone, pointed out in the future of work, the marketers need to be agile and ready to adapt to disruptions. She emphasized the role of digital tools in maximizing the delivery of the right content to the right customer at the right time.

The summit also featured interactive polls to gauge audience opinions on various topics. One poll revealed that at the leadership level, only 10% of respondents believe more than simply a social media presence to help business growth since it’s already enough to reach the company’s goal. Over 80% of participators considered it necessary.

As for the area delegate believe sees the most significant improvement from implementing data-driven insights, over 50% of attendees think it benefits business growth and expansion overall.

A word cloud exercise to understand the issues that companies typically encounter when trying to upskill their workforce to be digitally ready, and to emphasise the important role that ‘budgeting’ plays in the digital readiness process.

A breakout session titled “[Revenue Generation] Relate Marketing & Sales to Customer Journey: How “Smarketing” Go Hand-in-Hand to Support Greater Sales, Profit & Cost-Effectiveness” saw robust discussions on integrating marketing and sales. Participants addressed common pain points such as inconsistent messaging and lack of alignment, and discussed strategies like ensuring consistent branding and tracking key metrics like customer satisfaction and profitability.

Facilitated networking through roundtable discussions yielded several practical takeaways: 

  • Integration and Feedback: Emphasis was placed on better integration between sales and marketing, sharing feedback internally, and collecting the right data across the full customer journey. 
  • Customer-Centric Feedback: Attendees highlighted the importance of making customers feel heard and demonstrating actions taken based on their feedback. 
  • Collaboration: Regular forums and a dedicated customer insights team were recommended to ensure feedback is effectively disseminated and acted upon.
